 Educational Videos

WatchKnow is an Internet search engine that links teachers, students and parents to thousands of free educational videos and slide shows.   The Community Foundation unveiled the WatchKnow.org website in October 2009 with a front page story from the Commercial Appeal along with a story from the DeSoto Times-Tribune.  You can check out the newspaper stories at http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/oct/20/online-educational-resource-makes-its-debut/ or http://desototimes.com/articles/2009/10/20/news/local/doc4add02f15e01b580545300.txt.

The idea of developing an educational video online search engine or "video encyclopedia" started in 2007 with an anonymous donor, and members of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, along with its president, Tom Pittman.   Foundation leaders later enlisted the help of Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger.

All WatchKnow videos are educational and subscribers are able to refine their searches by category and by their children's ages.   Video topics include mathematics, science, languages, history and educational hobbies and crafts.  The site is intended for students in elementary through high school.  Check it out at www.WatchKnow.org.
