COUNCIL RECOGNIZES ANOTHER HEALTH CHAMPION

Pictured (l to r)  DeSoto County Community Health Council member Dwayne Williams presents the December 2008 Health Champion Recognition to HQ Fitness Center owner Robert “Scooter” Rayborn as Council member Billy Myers looks on.  HQ Fitness was chosen by the Council for their work in the community advocating for healthier lifestyles.  This center is providing teachers at Horn Lake High School fitness instruction as well as a free 30-day membership.  They have a vision of offering the same opportunity to all DeSoto County Schools teachers and staff.   “This is my dream-come-true; a place where the entire family can workout, and I am honored to receive this award”, said Rayborn.  The Council is a component of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi’s Get A Life! initiative to prevent childhood obesity. "We are proud that we can recognize one of our local businesses reaching out into the community to make a difference,” said Mellany Evans, Chairman, DeSoto County Community Health Council.  The Council continue to accept nominations for Health Champions which can be an individual, business, organization, school or church.  To make a nomination email plinton@cfnm.org or call Peggy Linton at 662.449.5002
