THE 2009 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS: HONORING YOUNG VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteer Northwest Mississippi will be recognizing and selecting local honorees in grades 5-12 who have exemplified outstanding volunteer and community service. The prestigious Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are sponsored by Prudential Financial and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honoring outstanding community service by young Americans. More than 80,000 middle level and high school students have been honored over the past 13 years solely for their volunteer work. Local honorees will have the opportunity to compete on state and national levels. State level honorees will receive silver medallions, $1,000 awards, and a fabulous trip to the nation's capital for several days of national recognition. In Washington, a national selection committee will name America's top ten youth volunteers for 2009. Each will win an additional $5,000, a gold medallion, a crystal trophy, and a $5,000 grant from The Prudential Foundation for a charitable nonprofit organization of his or her choice.
