Each year the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi
seeks nominees to
receive the honor of “Community Star”. The honor is bestowed
upon one recipient for
philanthropic or charitable work in each of four categories:
Woman, Man, Business,
and Nonprofit who improve the quality of life in their
communities.
Who will you nominate as your
Community Star? We are
seeking nominees from
throughout our eight county region (DeSoto, Tunica, Tate,
Panola, Coahoma, Quitman,
Marshall, and Tallahatchie Counties).
The nominees are normal folks and organizations. Last year Lee
Ashcraft was named
Man of the Year for the countless hours he has given to Habitat
for Humanity in DeSoto
County. Serving as a board member and co-chair of this
organization, he coordinates
volunteers in the building of homes for needy families. He also
volunteers through his
church, the Samaritans, Historic DeSoto Museum, Mississippi
State University Extension
Service Advisory Council and other organizations. Maybe you
know someone, like
Lee Ashcraft, that deserves this honor.
