The Box Project Member Testamonials I’ve been matched with a family since September and it’s been the greatest experience! My sister family is in Mississippi and writes often, is very appreciative of everything I send, always sends thank you notes right away and never asked for anything…until early February. The mother wrote me about the grades the girls just received in school, the latest details with her local volunteer work, and also mentioned they had run out of food! She asked if I could send her a couple cans of Spam. I felt terrible. For the past few months I’d been sending toiletries, Christmas gifts, supplies for their hobbies, school supplies, etc. and completely forgot about sending them food. I guess I just took it for granted that they would have food. I went to the store that day I got the letter and sent out a big box right away. Well, today I got a letter and A BOX! The family had sent me a letter to thank me for the food and had also put together a small box of gifts so I would know how great it felt to get a box. Not only do I feel so good about being able to help a family that is less fortunate than my own, but I feel lucky that I have been able to meet such wonderful people. Thanks Box Project!
Lisa B. North Carolina ******************************************************************************************* Note: this message was from a member recipient family that received emergency funds after their home was flooded with sewage
We want to thank you very much for the emergency funds. We were able to buy some shoes and clothing for each other along with some more cleaning things to clean with. We were so happy to receive this. The Box Project is the only one who tried to help us. May God bless each one of you! Pray for us and hope that things get better. Thank you again for your help.

******************************************************************************************* Our family has had an adopted family in Mississippi for about 8 years now. We were matched with this family through The Box Project from an article that I had read in “Better Homes and Gardens” magazine. The best part of this arrangement is that once you are matched with a family, everything between you is direct- your packages and letters are sent directly to their home and they correspond directly with you. Keeping in touch is a priority as The Box Project sees their mission as developing friendships as a support and help to encouraging these families to improve their situation. When we first started our Box Project family has 3 boys, 2 in fifth grade and one in high school. We have watched them grow up to college (all 3 are in college now) and the family has grown by 5 grandchildren, all living with the now grandparents!! While it may not be the situation we would have hoped for them, they are all working, kids are all in school and they are trying the best to deal with the life they have created. We have read about relatives moving in with them, being cared for through sickness, and dying. We have received pictures of their home, their children, proms, and renewed wedding vow. It has been EXTEREMLY eye-opening and REWARDING to be a part of this family’s life and I highly recommend it.
